Soon, the Indira Gandhi NEW DELHI: Soon, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) stu- dents would be able to write the exam- inations in regional languages, thanks to a system introduced by the varsity.

IGNOU's student evaluation division (SED) is currently working on imple- menting the proposal at the ground- level in its 60 regional centres across the country, Vice-Chancellor VN Rajasekharan Pillai said.

This would enable students to write exams in their regional languages. "The university has been working on a series of ideas to meet the diverse and often daunting expectations of students who cannot afford to acquire education from a conventional university," he said.

Recently, IGNOU has also put in place several initiatives for the benefit of more than 30 lakh students across India.
Students will get their exam results faster and conveniently as the varsity has created six zones to decentralise evaluation of answer scripts.

As a result of decentralisation, reval- uation of answer scripts and early dec- laration of results for term-end exams, will be handled at the respective evalu- ation centres.
