IIT-G introduces Master of Arts in Society and Culture programme, applications open till Jan 10

Adapting an inter- disciplinary approach, IIT Gandhinagar will now offer a brand new program christened - Master of Arts in Society and Culture. The application dates for this two year program is now open and the last date to apply is January 10, 2014.

Spread over four semesters, the very program encompasses core courses, electives and a master’s thesis. It would include courses like:

Archaeology of Ideas	History of India through Cinema
South Asia: History, Culture & Society	A Multilingual Nation
Globalization and Transnationalism	Mobs, Crowds and Citizens
Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods	Classical Literature in India
Population & Society	Philosophy of Mind
Music Traditions of India	Social Determinants of Health

 

Eligibility:

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent CPI/GPA).
• Aspirant awaiting their final semester/year results and those who would complete their Bachelor’s degree in the academic year 2013-2014 can also apply
• Students should note that meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission to the program.
• For SC/ST/OBC candidates: Eligibility criteria will be as per the UGC/Supreme Court guidelines.

Fees per semester:

	With Hostel
(a) Semester Fee:	14,100/-
(b) Refundable Security Deposit:	5,000/-
(c) One time Admission Fee:	3,500/-
Total	22,600/-

 

Stipend/Financial support: Students of this program, will receive a monthly scholarship of Rs. 5,000/-.

Application process:

• Aspirants must submit the applications online
• They need not send the hard copy of the application form but presenting a hard copy of the application form with a photograph and all the documentary evidence in original (testimonials, certificates, publications, work experience and research/professional experience) at the time of interview is essential
• There is no application fee as such for the program
