Mystory@Vinay Anand Bourai: How I selected my career

I opted for Humanities in my PUC which included subjects like English, Economics, Political Science, Hindi and History. After PUC, I decided to pursue my graduation. I got enrolled into the B.A programmes offered at S.B.D. Government College-Churu, Rajasthan. Scoring 86% in the finals made it easier for me to get enrolled in the masters programme. After completing my masters with first division, the next step was to pursue MPhil. I decided to appear for the examination to pursue with the doctoral programme in Economics, offered at Chaudhary Charan Singh University-Meerut.

What challenges did I face in my career path

I opted perfect combinations of subjects right from Pre university up to M.Phil Economics. The only careless mistake I made was to not take proper treatment for my ear perforation which became the hurdle in my selection as an Air Force officer. I was selected for the training in Indian Military Academy but I could not join due to my ear problem, leading to being disqualified in the Medical Examination. The conducting authorities said that I was not medically fit to qualify the exam and join the Air force. My dream was shattered and I was disappointed.

Since I was hardworking and good in Academics, with B plus criteria of UGC. This made it easier for me to become a Lecturer of Economics and I got an opportunity to work with University of Calgary, Canada Projects. I worked for the university for about 4 years and spent my time learning the Participatory methods to be used in Social Science Research. I also learned a few tactics of research project writing and paper writing. We were the team India, working for the university in Canada. It was the team’s responsibility to decide the QOL and BMN's in 1994 of the women of Garhwal, India. These researches were then published in Canadian research journals of repute. I also got the opportunity to work with other Canadian Universities and teach their Post-Graduation Batches of Environment Economics and Advanced Micro Economics.

In the year 2005, I also got the opportunity to work with Phil Stevenson of North West University of United Kingdom. In same period I did few more important publications with Dr. JVRD Kumar Rao of ICRISAT and University of Wales-Bangor Campus. After gaining a whole lot of experience, I started serving an Educational Institute as a Principal. The college had poor infrastructure and a glance of it was enough to calculate the amount of dedication that was required in order to upgrade the college at a certain level in the education industry. Our team worked hard as per the requirement of Accreditation Council and the management was very much interested in the development of Institution. In the year 2010 we were declared as B grade with 2.63 CGPA Institution. This is the result of our hard work and dedication. The college was also selected by UGC CPE in the same year. In 2016 NAAC awarded the college A grade with 3.04 CGPA and UGC selected the college for CPE status. The day UGC declared this result then I thought my potential is being utilized in the nation building.

Currently, I am serving the S.G.R.R (P.G) College, Pathri Bagh Dehradun, U.K as a Principal/Professor of Economics.
