Panjab University admissions 2014: Top five colleges for arts, commerce and science

Panjab University (PU) has been ranked as #1 University in India by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings list 2013-14. Its international ranking of #226 is higher than that of IITs and other leading universities of India.

The university has more than 70 departments and 188 affiliated colleges spread over Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh & Regional Centres at Muktsar, Ludhiana and Hoshiarpur.

PU was established in 1882 at Lahore. Post-partition in 1947, the varsity was split into two – Indian Punjab which is now known as Panjab University and Pakistani Punjab, known as Punjab University.

Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College (GGDSD)

Popularly known as SD college, the institute was established in 1973. The college has been accredited 'A' grade by NAAC and accorded the status of 'A College with Potential for Excellence' by UGC.  It has emerged as the top performing college offering vocational, professional, commercial, technical streams under the faculties of Commerce, Science, Information Technology and Humanities.

Popularly known as MCM, the college was established in 1968 by the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi.
