Mystory@Jasmin Gupta: How I made my career- the challenges and successes

It is indeed funny that we prepare ourselves for something but destiny has some other plans. I was a student of History but went on to do hotel management and finally found my calling in Theatre. So my journey has been full of new experiences.  Yes, like everyone else, I made mistakes. For example, I joined a reputed hotel as the opening team member but gave up the lucrative job after my marriage.

Sometimes I do feel I should have studied more, may be prepare for administrative services but somehow time just passed away and I went on to do a course in theatre. This course gave me new wings and opened up new avenues but I made another mistake of not pursuing it. But as they say if it’s yours it will come back to you so here I am making a career out of teaching drama to children. I am very contented to be in this job.

To start with unfortunately my college education did not really play a part in my career. I was a student of History and my career is now theatre. But it did shape my personality with respect to the kind of confidence it gave me. I am glad that I got an opportunity to be a part of North Campus’s most prestigious institution, Hindu College.

Life sometimes presents us with rare opportunities and I can proudly say that I was also presented with one. Hindu College is one of the most reputed colleges and one of the most prestigious college of Delhi University. My college days were perhaps the best ones because my college was always buzzing with activities, be it the annual festival, Mecca or college elections, or the campus itself with dramatics society and so on. But the best time I spent was at knags (Kamla Nagar) and the college canteen where the samosas and the colas were just awesome. Yes, my college days were fun.
