Mystory@Mary Anthony: How I chose my course and career

In Class 11, I wanted to choose Psychology as a subject and make a career out of it. But since there are few career options and advance courses in India related to this field, I decided to choose Economics. I continued to pursue my education along with working in the corporate sector. Initially, I was under the pressure of choosing the same beaten path of corporate life but the idea did not go down well with me. I felt trapped in the 9 to 5 routine and wanted to make an exit from all the office rivalries.

I always dreamt of being a journalist/writer so while in college I did a freelance course with 'All India Freelance Journalist Association'. In 2014, for my love of writing and fashion, I ended up starting my own fashion blog 'Beautilicious Freaks' and since then there is no looking back. Now I am a Fashion & Lifestyle blogger/ Brand Influencer. I work for brands and get to attend fashion events. I love my career and dream of building a well-known fashion medium. I also plan to write books and have experimented with script- writing by working for an international film. As I look back, I feel one should always choose what you love to do.

My mother and relatives thought that I had gone crazy. But I just listened to my heart and followed my intuitions. A Brand Influencer now, I am still learning the tricks of dominating the blogging and social media space. It is all very satisfying in the end as I do what I love, I write for a living! Hope my little story inspires someone to follow their dreams and not get bogged down by unrealistic expectations and pressures of the society.
