St Xavier's University, Kolkata to be inaugurated in July
St Xavier’s University will be inaugurated on July 8, 2017 by Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee and Lakshmi Niwas Mittal. Sources share that the new campus would start functioning from Rajarhat area. St Xavier’s University’s new campus would be spread over an area of 17 acres and will have two hostels with a capacity to house 1000 students each.
Apart from this, the Rajarhat campus will have a football field, swimming pool, sports academy, 3500 sq ft food court, law institute along with a separate wing for library and research work.
To begin with St Xavier’s University, Kolkata will be offering five courses which are as mentioned below:
- Master's in Business Administration
- Master's in Social Work
- Master's in Commerce
- Bachelor's in Commerce
- Bachelor's in Business Administration
St Xavier’s University is still in the process of finalising the fee structure for all the courses on offered.
Aspirants are informed that a total of 650 students will be offered admission in the above mentioned courses in the first academic year of the university. Admission in UG courses will be offered on the basis of merit in the qualifying exam whereas for PG course admissions the university will conduct an entrance exam.
Sources share that from the next academic session onwards, the university will introduce courses like BA in mass communication, MA in multimedia and animation, MA in economics and MEd. Apart from this, the university also aims to establish a community college wherein vocational courses will be offered to villagers who live in close proximity to the university campus.
