Certificate course in predictive analytics at IIT-H

IIT Hyderabad will be offering a certificate course on foundations of predictive analytics from December 19 to December 23, 2012. The five-day program aims to cover fundamental topics in predictive analytics using SAS enterprise guide and XLMiner. Students under this program will be able to develop a deeper understanding of predictive analytics concepts like classification, regression, market basket analysis and clustering.

What is Predictive Analytics?

Predictive Analytics, in simple terms, is the use of quantitative methods and data mining to acquire insights from historical data, and then drawing on those insights to shape business decisions and improve business performance. Used extensively in industries like insurance, medical, credit industries, online shopping and retail industry, Predictive Analytics narrows target audience and allows users to tailor their ads to each online customer.

What is SAS enterprise guide?

SAS Enterprise Guide is a point-and-click, menu- and wizard-driven tool that empowers users to analyse data and publish results. It provides fast-track learning for quick data analysis, generates code for productivity and speeds a user’s ability to deploy analyses and forecasts in real time.

What is XLMiner?

XLMiner is the only tool in excel to do data mining.

The course will be conducted by Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the IIT-Hyderabad campus.

Eligibility:

• Working professionals with undergraduate or postgraduate degree
• Engineering students in 3rd or 4th year
• MBA Students

• Data exploration and dimension reduction
• Association rules(Market basket analysis)
• Cluster analysis

• Relational algebra and SQL

For college teachers and students course fees: 12,000 (after concession)

The course fee is inclusive of one set of course material, accommodation in student hostel and boarding.
