India’s youngest app developers are here!

Featured amongst “Top 100 Technocrats of India” by the Exhibit Magazine, Shravan and Sanjay Kumaran from Chennai – aged 13 and 11, respectively – are no less than celebrities. Redefining the word “Genius”, these tech savvy brothers are the founders of GoDimensions, an app developing company that’s already four mobile applications old and gaining popularity.

Responding to questions posed by shiksha.com, both the brothers pour their hearts out about their company, their success so far and their plans for the future, in an interview with our correspondent Madiha Jawed.

We love computers a lot. When we were in class 1 and 2 itself we started to program. We thought of having a company of our own from a very young age and my mom too felt the same . She encouraged us a lot. As we knew programming our dad suggested we make games instead of only playing games. This really inspired us.

It was OUR idea to always have a company of our own and our parents always encouraged us with it. We were good at Computer Programming so we wanted to make apps which make life easier so we started our company related to Technology.

We were always interested in Computers since we saw our dad using the Computers and thus, we became tech savy.

We started creating apps as a hobby and as it got lot of downloads we started to do it more seriously. It is thrilling to create and design applications. We have not done any course as such but we have learnt by ourselves n through books. We enjoy reading books on different topic.

Shravan: I am good at Coding, Math and the Logical Based Code. I do most of the Logical Code.

Sanjay: I am good at Images and Coding and Designing and do most of the images.

We both manage both the sectors but we do the coding equally. We both share thoughts and there is a good understanding between us.  Our mom wanted us to be like the Wright Brothers. So we very close and friendly which further helps us create new things

We both manage the whole thing and that makes us feel good. We discuss our ideas, solve problems and then plan to work over the project. We have same wavelength and there is smooth way in which we execute our work. 

Sanjay wanted to name our company `'Go' as it means `Go getter' and Shravan wanted it be Dimensions as he wanted to make a dimensional change in life of others through the applications. We also wanted to make apps in different fields like life style, education, convenience and games. So we merged our ideas and that resulted in `Go Dimension’. The capital letters together is God. So by the grace of God we were enthralled to name our company by this name.

We have made apps which are free as of now. We get very very little money through the advertisement space. We want to give 15 per cent to charity and help in education of children who are poor. `We want to make a change in their lives'. We want India to grow and develop at a fast pace. 

We have made 300 dollars so far. 

We study well and score good marks in our school. Studies are our first priority. We worked hard so we finished our assignments and project all on time. Our teachers praised us for managing so well in-spite of travelling and not attending class for more than 15 days or so every month. We were blessed by many professors, scientists, teachers and CEO's of organizations.

We have also had the privilege to meet and talk to Scientist Shri APJ Abdul Kalamji. He wrote a personal mail to us congratulating us and appreciating our application. That was one of the happiest moments of our life. We visited Hyderabad for an International Technology conference and met Mrs. Kiran Majumdhar Shaw, who is eminent in the field of Bio-technology in India.

The whole experience of being a CEO and President of the company at this young age itself is great and recently we were featured in the Exhibit magazine of May 15 where we were featured along with Sunita Williams, the astronaut, Azim Premji of Wipro, Narayana Murthy of Infosys as Top 100 people in the field of technology in India. 

We have made 6 applications so far. We have made an educational app for kids which teaches about colours and Alphabets. We have “Prayer Planet” through which you could pray while travelling or before an interview or exams. Our latest app is called an “Emergency app” for old people or women or children in distress. This app can be used in more than 14 different countries.

We love Math, Science and computer the most and don't like languages as subject but like them to communicate. As far as our future studies are concerned, we would like to go for IT . However, MBA too is interesting.

We both think and bring it into application. For e.g; my mom felt kids fidget with cell phones n they need to have something constructive in their hands so that thought led us to make young children learn their alphabets. We designed this Alphabet Board which can teach kids. We tried it on our cousin who learnt his alphabets in 4 hours. So this change of facilitating learning with ease n fun way is amazing. We have color palette which teach colors and mixing of colors to kids through ipads.
