Mystory@Isha Khurana

To start with, my current situation is completely messed up even after being a post graduate as a lot of things are going together in my mind because there’s pressure to get married. In a business class family, what they expect from a girl after she has completed her studies is to get married. They teach, "agar family achi mile, business class or woh jo na karana chahe toh zid mat krna aur maan jaana."

I have also worked for a year in a startup company but was laid off along with many other employees.

Coming to my education, I scored 76% in Class 12 which was below my expectation. Moreover, I couldn’t clear any of my B Tech entrance exams. So I moved towards Delhi University. I wanted to pursue BSc Comp Science (Hons.) which had very high cutoff. I somehow made it to an off campus college, Keshav Mahavidyalya, in fourth cut off list which was like a miracle for me. My parents were happy too.

It was quiet a challenging course but what helped me sail through were the Mathematics related subjects.

Challenges and roadblocks
Then arrived the time of post graduation. Since, everyone used to say "B Tech (4years) is equivalent to BCA+MCA (6years) ", I decided to do MCA. I took MCA entrance exams of various universities but once again I could not clear any of them. My last option was IP University, but I score a very low rank in IP test too. My rank was even lower than my friends, and that broke me.

It’s not easy to decide the college and the course until you are pretty sure about the path you want to take.

Then I decided to drop one year and prepare for MCA entrances once again but a marriage proposal came for me and I decided I will take admission in whichever college I am getting it. A college near my home, MERI College of Engineering and Technology, had only one seat left and for which there were 4 candidates. Luckily, I got the admission there. Phew!

It’s not easy to decide the college and the course until you are pretty sure about the path you want to take.

Even after studying computers for 6 years, I hated Coding and I would just mug up everything. When I look back, I regret that I should have chosen my course wisely. I could have pursued a course of my interest and would have set up a business. But it’s never too late.

Lessons learnt on the way

But things that I have learnt in my journey are, no matter what our parents always support us, so always love them. Also, gain some corporate experience as it helps a lot in personal and professional growth. And lastly, make friends, make memories because this is what will always stay with you forever and ever.
