HP Institute launches in India

With a plan to equip students with business-ready IT skills critically needed by the industry, HP announced the launch of the HP institute in India on September 26, 2012.The institute is a division of the HP ExpertOne programme and will offer HP Accredited Technical Associate (ATA) certifications.

To back the initiative, HP will rope in Indian universities to bring hands-on experience and job-ready skills into an academic setting that would further help India develop the abilities of its graduate personnel. The firm will also work with schools, colleges and universities across India to deliver the courses, aiming to improve the IT skills of over 65,000 graduates over the next five years.

Students, under the HP Institute program, may complete four HP Accredited Technical Associate (ATA) certifications.

Key highlights of the certification and programs:

• The courses and certifications have been designed to provide skills that are particularly appropriate for small and mid-sized companies.
• Each certification covers industry-standard technologies and includes a complete learning program of courseware, practice tests, hands-on remote labs and certification exams
• The certification exams cover connected devices, networks, servers and storage, and cloud computing

KIIT (Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology) is the first education institution in India to participate in the HP Institute ATA certification programme.

HP has also joined hands with Certiport to develop and distribute a complete set of academic solution components including HP official courseware, e-learning, remote lab facilities, practice tests, and certification exams. The firm will also offer links between graduates and HP’s 2571 strong enterprise alliance partner and reseller network in India, encouraging them to recruit ATA certified professionals and demonstrating a preference to hire graduates with ATA qualifications.
