Microsoft Appfest for Indian students on Feb 26
Here’s a unique opportunity for Indian students to build apps for the Windows platform. In a first of its kind initiative, the American multinational software company, Microsoft, will be conducting an Appfest to enable students to learn about the latest Microsoft tools and technologies and get a practical, hands-on experience in building software applications for Windows 8 and Windows Phone.
The fest attracts young developers to create apps for the windows platform under the supervision of Microsoft mentors, trainers and Microsoft Student Partners (MSPs). The app then developed will be submitted online to make them available at the Windows Store after due diligence.
Over 10,000 students from 250 colleges across the country will gear up to code applications for a whole day on February 26, 2013, at more than 50 hub centres. These centres are currently holding training sessions for students who wish to brush up their coding skills as they register. At each of the hubs, Microsoft will offer students free software like Visual Studio Express for Windows 8 and free Windows Store registration codes through Microsoft DreamSpark.
The apps would mainly emphasise on broad-based consumer applications, incorporating education, games, apps for social good etc.
