Information technology is undoubtedly one of the most preferred job sectors these days. This fact was brought to the fore by a leading online survey conducted by leading HR solutions provider Ma Foi Randstad. Other factors which attract various people make Career in IT sector is job security, work-life balance and financial health of firms.
The survey, covered nearly 10, 000 respondents, where it was found that IT sector, including BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and IteS (IT-enabled services), were one of the most sought after choices for employment. This was followed by Energy, Consulting, Consumer goods, Retail and Travel and Hospitality areas. The survey also revealed the top 20 companies for employment, which included Infosys, TCS, Larsen & Turbo, NTPC, ONGC, Toyota and Oracle. The survey was conducted from December 2010 to February 2011.
According to Ma Foi Randstad presently, India operations account for about 10 percent of Randstad's overall temporary staffing volumes and 2 percent of Randstad's annual revenues. Moreover, Ma Foi Randstad is also looking for expansion in Kochi, Chandigarh and Visakhapatnam.
In this scenario, more and more students have their eyes set on Career in IT sector and reap maximum advantage. The number of professionals coming in this industry is rapidly crossing the 4 lakh mark and the demand and supply of professionals is on rise. This definitely shows an encouraging sign. In US alone there is a demand for nearly 2 lakh professionals. Moreover, it is believed that nearly 60% of the world's software is produced in India itself. Our country is also exporting software to some 100 countries which include IT companies like NIIT, Wipro, Infosys, Zenith computers, Satyam Computers, STG, Pentafore Software, Mastek and others.
