IITs Introduce Fresh Reforms!
With Indian institutes of technology (IIT) undergoing reforms, students appearing in this year's entrance examination can heave a sigh of relief since IITs have decided to put scanned copies of each students mark sheet online. IIT being a highly reputed and much sought after institute in India, felt the need of creating such reforms after failing to provide a concrete explanation for the cut-offs they had been setting ever since JEE 2006 up till last year.
However, from now onwards students will not only get the opportunity of checking their score online but will also get option of evaluating their marks with the correct solutions. Such a change is expected to bring in the much required transparency and precision. Since IIT-JEE had been facing a whole lot of controversies and accusations since 2006, this particular step is aimed at restoring the student's faith in the institution.
According to sources, students shall be provided with an individual student-specific password through which they will be able to easily access their accounts and get information about their performance and marks distribution. This amendment is among one of three major changes in admission system the institute has decided to bring in.
Besides this, IIT has also decided to put up correct answers of all the questions asked in the entrance exam on its website within a time frame of 48 hours. This welcoming change is aimed at reducing the student's dependence upon coaching institutes for the same.
At present, only those who qualify for the exam get a chance to know the breakdown of their marks whereas, with the coming of new reforms each student will get a chance to view his/her mark sheet irrespective of the fact whether he/she qualified the exam or not. This measure is being taken so that students get a chance to know their weak points and work on them.
This year on 11 April, more than 4.85 students are expected to sit for IIT-JEE exam.
