Jamia is the first Indian University to implement 'File Tracking System'.

As part of its e-Governance Initiative, Jamia Millia Islamia is soon going to implement File Tracking System Software developed by its FTK-Centre for Information Technology. With implementation of this utility, Jamia will become the first Indian University to have an online tracking system to monitor movement of files in the University.

The intranet utility will enable authorized users to track their respective papers/files as they move through the administrative hierarchies. In addition to enhancement of overall transparency and efficiency in the University system, the utility has the potential to uncover the bottlenecks in file movement and also help the administration in rational distribution of staff across the University.

The utility has been built over the existing in-house developed Management Information System (MIS) of Jamia that also gives the University a unique distinction of being one of the first implementers of an integrated university-wide ERP system.

To ensure smooth implementation of the utility across the University, a number of training programmes have been conducted by FTK-CIT for users in various offices of the University.
