New course for undergraduates at IIIT-B

Starting from August, International Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore (IIIT-B) will launch a 5 year integrated M. Tech programme. IIIT-B is a 12 year old deemed university known for its distinct model of education, research and industry interaction at PG level. The institute took the cue from Indian Institute of Science that opened doors to undergraduates last year.

The news was announced by Prof Rajagopalan of IIIT-B in an IBN press conference. According to him, the decision was taken as a response to the requests from industry, government and public to make use of their expertise in providing quality education to students. (Read More...) In a TOI report, S. Sadagopan, director (IIT-B), shares that many students feel the need to be in campus for a longer period.

According to them, an undergraduate course in similar ambience will help them in better research. As the institution is going on a steady pace now, it was an ideal time to launch an undergraduate programme, added Sadagopan.
The programme will be a full time dual degree programme and will be targeted towards 12th passed students. Apart from the core IT curriculum and a wide range of electives, the integrated programme will also cover humanities, social science, biological science, management studies and English. The 5th year will be dedicated to research.

The course fee will be Rs. 75, 000 per semester and admission to the programme will be based on AIEEE scores. The admission process has already started from Jan 9th. For more details, please click here.
