"Personalised Mover" And A "Formula Student Car" By Students Of Delhi Technological University In Auto Expo 2010
A "Personalized Mover" and a "Formula Student Car" developed by students of a technological university drew considerable attention at the Auto Expo 2010. Delhi Technological University (DTU) students Mr Subhav Sinha designed Personalised Movers and named it Mitra. This car is capable of carrying single person. The DTU Vice Chancellor Mr. P. B. Sharma explained that the vehicle would be useful in airport corridors, institutional campuses and specialty building such as hospitals where low noise pollution is required. The "Formula Student Car" stands out among others in its category for its lowest weight of 205 kg, which has been achieved through the use of carbon fibre for the body and other chassis innovations. Powered by a Honda CVR 600 RR MPFi engine, the vehicle has a power output of 70 BHP with its electronic fuel injection.

Students Can Bell The CAT Again On 30th January
The CAT committee has declared dates for the second phase of exams for those who could not complete the test as per last schedule due to various technical glitches. The test will be conducted on 30th and 31st January, 2010. While the candidates identified for the re-test in phase-two would receive communication from Prometric by January 10, the results of CAT 2009 are likely to be announced by the third week of February. The rescheduled candidates include those who could not take the test due to closure of their test labs or any other technical faults and those who could not take the test as they were notified of their rescheduling less than 48 hours before the test or due to rescheduling in a city different from their earlier choice.

NIT Calicut To Focus On MBA Technology
The National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) - School of Management Studies is planning to focus on technology management for its MBA programme in the 2010-2012 academic years. According to the institute, the program will be open only to B.Tech/B.Arch/BE/B.Sc engineering students. Admission to the course will be based on marks scored in the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) Common Admission Test (CAT), however, final admission will be based on the candidate's performance in the Bachelor's degree examination, group discussion and interview. Group discussion and interview will be held at five places: Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and NIT Calicut. The list of candidates selected for group discussion (GD) and interview will be published on 12 February, 2010. Group discussion and interview will be start from 22 February, 2010.

NAAC Grants A Grade To Tamil Nadu Colleges
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has recently granted an 'A' grade to Sri Krishna Arts and Science College and Dr. G.R. Damodran College of Science. Mr. K. Sundararaman, principal of Sri Krishna Arts and Science College announced that the peer team of the NAAC assessed the quality standards of the colleges and found them in accordance with seven criteria prescribed by the council. The accreditation has been given based on the report of the visiting team. According to a release from Mr D. Padamanabhan, chairman and correspondent of Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science, the college has secured a score of 3.18 out of 4 making it legible to be accredited with an 'A' grade from NAAC.

Engineering And Management Seats To Be Increased Soon
The HRD ministry announced a set of reforms in the technical education sector to meet the increasing demand of engineering and management seats in the country. The changes are expected to increase the number of engineering and management seats in the institutions. The government has given relaxation to All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) norms and allowed new engineering and management institutions to admit more students. Presently, the intake of engineering colleges is 240 per year and for management its 60 per year. This has been doubled for new management colleges and engineering colleges who currently allow admission of 300 students.

Delayed CAT Results Hit B-school Admissions
The admission for the academic session 2010 at over 150 business-schools will be delayed due to the online Common Admission Test result. CAT score is mandatory for students to get admission at the top seven Indian Institutes of Management and over 150 other B-Schools in India who accept CAT score for admission. Result for the computer based test will be declared on the third week of February, as the second phase of CAT will be held on 30th and 31st January, 2010. The admission process of these institutes will last till April, 2010.
