Sikkim Manipal University Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) is a 3 year programme, with a total number of 45 seats. Approved by AICTE and accredited by ISO 9001:2000 the course has been thoroughly prepared by experts. Students are made to do practical training under the guidance of reputed industry professionals. Sikkim Manipal University ensures that each student gets equal attention and maximum exposure during the classes.
Masters in Computer Applications (MCA) introduces a student about development of various types of application software. With boom in IT sector, the course is gaining more popularity and thousands of students are taking admission into this programme. In India, MCA was started as a stream in 1982 and even after decades the glamour of this course has not faded.
In the background of the above fact, Sikkim Manipal University, MCA strives to offer the students a distinct identity in IT market. This is done through the university's Competency Certification Center which was set up in collaboration with NASSCOM. Valid nationwide, this certification will help students to appear in online testing in specified areas.
Eligibility:
Students willing to take admissions in Sikkim Manipal University MCA programme, must fulfill the following conditions:
•Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University with Mathematics/Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level.
•Applicants are required to appear in an entrance examination, conducted by SMIT on 21st July 2011.
•Filled application form along with a DD for Rs: 500/- drawn in favour of Sikkim Manipal University, payable at Gangtok, Sikkim must reach the admission office before 21st July 2011.
•Nine seats are reserved for applicants of Sikkimese origin
•Candidates for this category will be recommended by Director Technical Education HRD, Government of Sikkim.
Training & Placement
Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT), provides the students with training & placement department, which offers them a platform for interaction with corporate experts and Academic/Research Institutions. The placement cell organizes courses and training programmes, which help student to enhance their aptitude and skills. This in turn helps them to increase their employability. Apart from this, the university keeps itself updated about the IT industry scenario and carry up gradations from time to time.
The placement department functions with the following objectives:
•To provide in-plant training to students to supplement their curriculum.
•To arrange the final semester industrial projects to work on live problems (Practice Schools).
•To bring Industrial establishments to the campus for recruitment of students. To achieve these objectives
The training and placement department also organizes periodic workshops, seminars, guest lectures and corporate parties.
