The race to secure admission into top law schools begins with preparation for various entrance exams such as CLAT, AILET, LSAT India, SLAT and more. The exam pattern for law entrance exams might be different, but the preparation strategy for all the exams can be the same. Here are the most common habits of toppers for law entrance exams that help them ace the tests.
Start early
The toppers shared that they begin exam preparation at least a year beforehand. All the toppers that secure top ten ranks in the law entrance exams shared that they had started preparation from their class 11 itself or soon after class 10 final exams. Moreover, some of the top rank holders in law entrance exams also shared that six to eight months are enough to prepare for law exams. However, they were consistent and didn’t skip their preparation even during Class 12 final exams.

Make a schedule
Before starting preparation, these toppers created a schedule that included their day-wise preparation plan. Moreover, they paid attention to their strengths and weaknesses while making the preparation plan. This way, they could work on the key improvement areas and prepare effectively.
Clarifying concepts and make notes
The toppers shared that in order to save time and energy their preparation, they first clarify the topics from the syllabus. To understand the core topics, they also ensured researching the topics thoroughly and making notes. Since the law entrance exams commonly have English Comprehension and Legal Aptitude (except in LSAT India), therefore, toppers developed the habit of reading on a regular basis. Moreover, they kept making notes on General Awareness and Current Affairs as well.
Take mock tests
Besides, the toppers took mock tests regularly with 4-5 questions from each subject. With mock tests, the toppers were able to enhance their test skills and work on time management. Moreover, they also analysed their preparation level and took note of weak areas to work on them accordingly.
Revise regularly
The most common habit of all toppers was to revise along with the preparation plan. They did not wait till the last month for revision of the subjects. Their preparation plan included as under:
- Clarifying the concepts
- Practising mock tests and sample papers
- Analysing the preparation and working on their weak areas
- Revising the concepts with the help of preparation notes
This was their regular habit for preparation of law entrance exam in order to achieve their desired goals.
Healthy habits
Besides preparation, the toppers also ensured healthy eating habits and practices to make their lifestyle stress free. They took good care of their health and wellbeing as exam preparation is really stressful, and with multiple exams, the stress is doubled. Therefore, regular breaks and a good time with family and friends was a must during their exam preparation.
