SLAT 2020 to be held in a remotely-proctored online mode on May 31. Therefore, SIU shares important instructions for taking the examination. Read here to know more. 

Symbiosis International University (SIU) has published instructions for candidates who will be taking the exam in a remotely-proctored online mode this year. SLAT 2020 is now set to be conducted on May 31, 2020, in such a mode that candidates can take it from their homes itself and, also be safe from COVID-19 pandemic. Since this is a first-time-ever event that candidates will be taking SLAT 2020 in a remotely proctored online mode, SIU has shared important guidelines for the exam day. Moreover, to acquaint the candidates with this remotely proctored mode, SIU will be conducting a mock test on May 24, 2020. Here is how candidates can attempt SLAT 2020 from their home.

Here are the dates and timings related to the SLAT 2020 exam as announced by SIU on May 11:

Before Taking the Examination 

The seating position and dress requirements of candidates taking the exam are: 

  • They should be facing the screen and webcam of the desktop or laptop properly.
  • Proper lighting in the room so their face is visible clearly.
  • They should be dressed in formals or smart casuals while taking the test, just like they would have appeared for a personal interview. 
  • They should be alone in the room they are taking the examination. 
  • They should keep the registered mobile numbers with them for login access. No other devices will be permitted other than test-taking system and mobile phone with the registered number.
  • Moreover, They need to support all IT infrastructure requirements and guidelines to take the test.

Instructions for Taking the Examination

While taking the test, candidates should avoid the interruptions as under:

  • Do not open any other application or tab in the browser during the test to avoid exam violations as it is being remotely proctored and strict actions will be taken for this violation.
  • Candidates should be aware of the fact, they will be monitored and, their images and videos will be recorded and supervised in near real-time by AI as well as the exam proctor.
  • Candidate must not leave the seat or disappear from the screen during the test as it will be considered a violation. Therefore, no breaks for using washrooms or eating will be allowed. 
  • Candidates cannot use calculators although, a plain paper and a pencil for rough work are permitted. 
  • Any kind of communication during the test as well as, using phones is not allowed.
  • Candidates should keep the web camera to be pointed at their faces while taking the exam, changing the position of the camera is not allowed. If candidates disturb the camera, the test will be submitted automatically and candidates cannot access it thereafter.
  • If a candidate is appearing for two exams, then using the same test system is mandatory. 

Software Prerequisites for SLAT Internet-Based Test 

Here is the listed Softwares that support the upcoming home-based AI SLAT 2020 examination:

Software that will support IBT: 

  • Operating System that supports - Windows 7, 8, 10 and Ubuntu LINUX (14.1 and 16) version
  • RAM requirements - Minimum 4GB of RAM Processor: Intel Core i3 or above
  • HDD requirement- Minimum 100 MB of free space.
  • Internet connectivity - 5 Mbps un-interrupted internet speed is desirable
  • Browser: Assure zoom level of browser is at 100%. 
  • Windows 10 - Google Chrome - All versions.
  • Windows 10 - Internet Explorer - All versions.
  • Windows 8 – IE – All versions.
  • Windows 8 – Google Chrome – All versions.
  • Windows 8 – Firefox – Up to version 56.
  • Windows 7 - Google Chrome - All versions.
  • Windows 7 - Internet Explorer - All versions.
  • Windows 7 - Firefox - Version 46 to 56.
  • Ubuntu - All versions.

Addtional Requiremnts 

Candidates should ensure the following before taking the examination:

  • The system they are going to take exam with has a webcam internally or connected externally for remote proctoring. 
  • There should be a keyboard connected with the device to take the Writing Ability Test (WAT)
  • The system should be connected with an electrical power supply in case of Desktop PC or connected to the charger if the laptop is being used to avoid electricity cuts-related interruption. 
  • Keep the device firewall disabled for www.tcsion.com, g21.tcsion.com, www.digialm.com, g21.digialm.com, www3.digialm.com, the URLs mandatory for taking the exam.
