NIRF Rankings 2021: NLSIU, Bengaluru retains top position in ‘Law’ category

National Law School of India University, (NLSIU) Bengaluru once again ranked number one in NIRF Ranking 2021 Law category.

The National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru has once again ranked one in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking in the Law category. In NIRF Ranking 2020 also, the institute had secured the number one position in the Law category.

The other institutes that followed the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru in NIRF Ranking 2021 in the Law category are National Law University, Delhi, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, and Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru

The publicly-owned national law university was established under the National Law School of India Act (Karnataka Act 22 of 1986), notified in the Official Gazette in 1987. It holds University Grants Commission (UGC) and Bar Council of India (BCI) recognition and an 'A Grade' accreditation from NAAC.

The campus is spread over a 23-acre area comprising discussion rooms, faculty quarters, and multiple academic centres. It offers 16 courses related to Law including undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes.

NIRF Ranking

National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking is given to the institutes by the Ministry of Education to promote competitive excellence in higher educational institutions in the country. These rankings are given every year.

NIRF rankings are based on the parameters of teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcome, outreach and inclusivity and peer perception. These parameters include important factors like percentage of women, financial resources and their utilization, faculty-student ratio, and student strength.

These rankings are given around nine broad categories Overall Ranking, College Ranking, Engineering Ranking, University Ranking, Medical Ranking, Pharmacy Ranking, Law Ranking, Management Ranking, and Architecture Ranking.
