Now MBA for lawyers too
Beyond the courtroom skills, lawyers need management degrees too. And NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, has just the specific masters of business administration (MBA) programme for court managers.
Claiming to offer India’s first ever business degree for court managers, NALSAR has invited application for the MBA programme.
This two-year full-time campus based MBA Programme will offer major specialisations in ‘Court Management’ / ‘Corporate Governance’ / ‘Financial Services and Capital Markets’ and minor specialisation in ‘Marketing Management’ / ‘Human Resource Management’ / ‘Business Regulations’.
An official release claimed, “Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates will not only be suitable for recruitment as Court Managers but would also excel in the Corporate Houses, Financial Markets, Insurance Companies, Banks, Law Firms, Consulting Firms, Industry, Government, Media Houses, NBFC, Public Sector Undertakings etc.”
This year, final selections will be made after group discussions and personal interviews but from next academic session, students would be admitted through CAT and GMAT scores.
According to information, the university is currently facing a revenue shortage of Rs 1 crore. But with this new MBA, Nalasar can make around Rs 2 crores in revenues if the new course is fully subscribed, with individual fees ranging between Rs 3.25 lakhs and Rs 3.75 lakhs, plus additional expenses. The University also has other management and commerce-based course – Masters in Business Law & Administration and Masters in Financial Services & Capital Markets. NLU Jodhpur also offers an MBA in insurance.
Recently, all High Courts were asked to recruit court managers. General MBA holders have been hired for the purpose.
