A 5-year LLB course is an integrated undergraduate law program that combines a bachelor's degree with the study of law. This program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in law directly after completing their secondary education. The course provides a comprehensive understanding of various legal subjects along with a foundation in a general bachelor's degree, typically arts, commerce, or business administration. The types of 5-year Law Courses are the following: 

1. BA LLB (Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative Law)

  • BA LLB is an integrated course combines a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB).
  • It includes subjects from the arts stream such as Political Science, Sociology, Economics, and History along with core law subjects.

2. BBA LLB (Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Legislative Law)

  • BBA LLB program integrates a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with an LLB.
  • It covers management and business administration subjects like Business Communication, Financial Management, and Corporate Finance, in addition to law subjects.

3. B.Com LLB (Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Legislative Law)

  • BCom LLB course combines a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) with an LLB.
  • It includes subjects like Accounting, Business Statistics, Taxation, and Economics along with law subjects.

4. B.Sc LLB (Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Legislative Law)

  • B.Sc LLB is an integrated course combines a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) with an LLB.

Eligibility Criteria for 5-Year LLB Law Course

The eligibility criteria for a 5-year LLB law course can vary slightly depending on the institution and country, but the general requirements are as follows:

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must have completed their higher secondary education (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized board.

Some institutions require a minimum aggregate percentage in the qualifying examination, typically around 45% to 50% for general category students. For reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC), this percentage might be lower, usually around 40% to 45%.

Age Limit:

The age limit for admission can vary. Some institutions may have an upper age limit, commonly around 20 years for general category students and 22 years for reserved categories. However, many institutions have removed the upper age limit following the Bar Council of India's recommendation.

Reservation Criteria:

Reservation policies as per government regulations may apply, offering a certain percentage of seats reserved for SC/ST/OBC and other categories.

5-Year LLB Course Admission Process

There are two main methods for admission to a 5-year LLB course: merit-based admission and admission through a law entrance exam. These two methods have been described below: 

1. Merit-based Admission 

Candidates can apply to law colleges by filling out the application form. Thereafter, colleges prepare merit lists based on applicants’ scores in the qualifying exam (Class 12 exam). 3. Admission based on Entrance Exams
