All you journalism aspirants out there, CBSE set to catch you early.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to introduce Mass Media as one of the elective subjects in Classes XI and XII from the next academic year. The books for this vocational course are expected to be distributed in July.

Last year, the course was launched on a pilot-run basis in some schools in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune. It aimed to introduce students to history of media and make them media-literate.

While the course is expected to teach skills related to entertainment and media industry, it will also help them develop their aesthetic sense and become ideators.

The new elective will also mean training for the teachers. The language teachers of Classes XI and XII will receive training at the Whistling Woods International (WWI), founded by Subhash Ghai.
