A Bachelor of Journalism is an undergraduate degree in the field of journalism and mass communication. Candidates can pursue the course after completing their 12th.  The course duration is three years and aspirants are taught about the various aspects of the media industry which includes subjects such as reporting, writing, research, history of journalism, editing and much more.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have completed their 12th from a recognized board are eligible. Students from any stream (Science/Commerce/Arts) can opt to pursue a course in Bachelor of Journalism.

Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC)

A Bachelor in Journalism and Mass Communication is an under-graduate degree course for candidates who opt to build their career in the field of journalism and mass communication after 12th. In this course, candidates are able to refine and sharpen their skills in the course as well as be exposed to the practical work apart from theory. There are many career opportunities for students who pursue a BJMC course and can get to work in renowned channels, newspapers, publishing houses, advertising agencies, production houses and many more.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have completed their 12th from a recognized board are eligible for the course. However, the candidate should have scored a minimum of 60 per cent marks in their 12th examinations. The candidate should also be a minimum of 17 years in age.

Other than the mentioned criteria’s above, various universities host entrance exams in order to be eligible for admission in the varsities. The candidate must procure a certain rank or score in order to meet the eligibility criteria’s which have been set by universities.

BMM is an under-graduate course which is of three-years which includes the study of various channels of communications such as print, electronic and digital media. A career in mass media offers a wide range of career options and more than theoretical, it is the practical and technical skills which are more focused on in the field of media.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have completed their 12th from a recognized board with a minimum of 60-70 per cent marks in the 12th examinations, meet the eligibility criteria. However, some universities conduct entrance exams in order to apply for admission to the respective university. Candidates who meet the cut-off or procure the ranks/scores in the exams, can apply for admission.

Diploma in Journalism

Candidates who do not wish to apply for a full three-year course, have an option to pursue a diploma course, which is of one year. Candidates can either pursue a course in journalism and mass communication or can choose a specialized course such as photography, film making, visualisations etc. The course revolves around the fundamentals of mass media, teaching all the subjects in a gist. From learning of film making to the working behind the radio, candidates are skilled in each aspect of journalism and mass communication.
