Mystory@Nandini Dasgupta: How I chose my course and college

To be honest I was in a dilemma after Class 12, like every other student as to which subject to choose in Graduation. Then I found that my interest lies in two most important things. Firstly, I am hugely interested in the differently-abled and communication on disability. Secondly, I have an inclination towards practical based subject, thus I found Media Science to be the perfect subject for me. It has practical papers and the entire 3-year course is very interesting and exciting.

Also, since it provides the detailed knowledge of communication, it is very helpful if you choose it as a subject for further studies.

Future Media School, Kolkata is a college that can make every student fall in love with all the subjects. What won over my heart was the care and the guidance of the faculty.

The environment, facilities and the campus are very impressive. They will make you fall in love with studies. The college provides a lot of opportunities through various activities to help students improve their skills and enhance their knowledge in the field of their choice. Last but not the least the support and the guidance that the college helped me follow my dreams.

The college also “The Future Of The Past”, an annual event which is talk of the town.

How I cracked college admission

The admission test of Future Media School is an easy one. If a student has a hold on news, current affairs and everything related to media (print, broadcast and social media) then he/she can easily crack it. Following the written test, personal interview is conducted where one has to face questions like, why have you chosen this field, etc.  I did not take any coaching classes since I had a fair idea of current affairs and media on the whole.

I had tried for few more colleges like St Xavier’s College, Kolkata, Asutosh College, Amity University, The iLEAD and Shri Shikshayatan.

What I gained from my college experience

As mentioned earlier the college ambience is impressive and so basically I spend my time at canteen which definitely is one of the favorite places of the students. It not only offers mouth-watering food but is also a perfect place to gossip your friend, as well as to study and even do some written work. Besides the canteen, I spend my time in the library reading books, journals and also solving question papers of the previous years.

I am a part of the dance team of the college which has represented our college in the fests of reputed Kolkata colleges.

If I am given a chance I would definitely like to involve myself in programs like debates so that my public speaking skills and self-confidence improve further.

The almost one-year long journey at Future Media School has changed me as a person. Here, I have got many opportunities which helped me to showcase my talent in a better way, improved my public speaking skills, made me more confident and increased my vocabulary. Also close interaction with classmates, batchmates, seniors and the faculty resulted in exchanging ideas which made me more knowledgeable.

I am Nandini Dasgupta, a 1^st year student of Media Science, studying at Future Media School, Sonarpur. I did my schooling till Class 10 from Maharishi Vidya Mandir and Class 12 from Hirendra Leela Patranavis School, Golf Garden with Humanities.
