These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.

Due to the ongoing Corona Virus pandemic, the Indian government has enforced lockdown in all the states. Therefore, all the schools and colleges have also been shut down with immediate effect. Since there are no chances of this lockdown ending soon, all the colleges and universities are left with a major problem ahead of themselves of how they are going to conduct upcoming semester exams and practicals. Due to this, all the colleges are finding alternatives in the form of online apps through which they can provide online education to their students.

Jagannath International Management School (JIMS) Vasant Kunj is using Zoom app to give online lectures so that whenever the lockdown lifts up all the students are well prepared to appear directly for the external semester exams. Although there are some regular network issues on the app, still, these online lectures are proving to be quite effective in this situation. The teachers can interact with all the students for almost half an hour with very ease. Just like normal classes, there are 3-4 lectures scheduled every day for all the subjects. Due to these online lectures, all the teachers have completed their respective subject's syllabus and have provided sufficient notes to the students.

Along with the lectures, all the subject teachers have also given written assignments to the students that are to be submitted handwritten by all the students before the deadline. All the teachers have also asked the students to submit the assignments handwritten instead of typed format.

Along with theoretical learning, teachers are equally focusing on practical learning too. There are separate lectures for practical classes as well where the teachers help the students to complete their practical work so that they can prepare well for the practical exams too.

There are a lot of issues that students are experiencing on the zoom app. There are a lot of network issues and audio problems that everyone is facing frequently on the app. But during this situation where offline classes are not possible, these online lectures have proved to be quite helpful for the students. This helped the teachers to complete their syllabus and provide all the sufficient study material to the students so that now they prepare well for both the upcoming theory and practical exams. Using Zoom app might not be the best possible way to teach the students since there are a lot of issues. But we have to always remember one thing "Something is always better than nothing" and this way has proved to be quite effective till now.
