Established in 1965, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is an autonomous institution. IIMC offers multiple post-graduate diploma programmes under different specializations, including Radio and TV Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Urdu Journalism, Hindi Journalism, English Journalism, Malayalam Journalism, Marathi Journalism and Odia Journalism. The institute also extends training for the Indian Information Service, as a noteworthy feature. IIMC Delhi is a UGC-recognised institute. IIMC Delhi hosts many renowned companies for student placements. Some of these names include ABP News, NDTV, Discovery, Network18, Zee Media, Sony, Red FM, Radio Mirchi, AIR News, PTI, TCS, Accenture, HCL, Times of India Group, etc.
For admissions, the institute conducts the IIMC Entrance Exam annually. It is an online test conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). They also accept CUET scores for admissions. In order to appear for this exam, aspirants must have a bachelor's degree from a recognised institute. Those who have appeared for the final exams of their bachelor's programme and are awaiting results can also apply for the exam. However, they must produce their mark sheets for the institute when the results are out. Age is no bar and reserved category candidates are given reservations.

Jamia Millia Islamia (also known as JMI) is a central university located in Delhi. It was established in 1920 by an Act of the Parliament of India and is recognized by UGC. Some of the courses offered by Jamia Millia are approved by AICTE and NCTE and accredited by the NBA. Jamia Millia Islamia University is accredited with an A++ Grade by NAAC and is ranked 26 by NIRF 2024 under the BTech category and six in India amongst all institutions by the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2024. AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (AJK MCRC) is the department of JMI offering courses related to Mass Communication and Journalism. Admission to these courses is offered through the JMI Entrance Exam. The infrastructure and facilities offered at JMI include a library, labs, production facilities, etc.

“The origin of the Department of Communication and Journalism can be traced to an endowment of INR 10,000 made by Shri KA Kolhatkar and accepted by the University of Pune in 1956 for instituting the ‘Sandeshkar Kolhatkar Scholarship’ for Marathi Journalism”, states the official website. It is further informed that “A two-year, part-time diploma course in Journalism was inducted on 5th February 1964. The course was divided into junior and senior years of study, requiring the students to appear for five papers (carrying 100 marks each) at the end of each year. The classes were held in the evening”. The courses offered at DMCS are M.Sc. Media & Communication Studies, M.Phil./Ph.D Media and Communication Studies, PG Diploma in Indian Film Studies, etc. Companies that are regulars for campus placement at this mass communication institute include names like Network 18, Times Group, DNA, Sakal Times, Pune Mirror, Cognizant, Persistent, ETv, Star India, etc.
This institute conducts an Online Entrance Exam (OEE) for admissions to their postgrad programmes. This exam holds a total of 150 marks where 80 marks are for subject-related MCQs and descriptive questions. 20 marks are allotted to the General Aptitude section. The rest of the 50 marks are allotted to the Group Discussion and Visual Aptitude Test which are followed by the aforementioned sections. Similar to the IIMC Entrance Exam, aspirants must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline to apply for this entrance exam.
