Admission Process: For admission at FTII, students will have to firstly apply online and appear for a Joint Entrance Test (JET) which is conducted by the FTII and SRFTI together in order to offer students admission in the postgraduate diploma courses which are offered at the institutes. Candidates who clear the Joint Entrance Test, will be called at the respective campuses for an interview. A merit list will be released where students who have qualified, will be called to the institute to complete the admission process.

An academic institute under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Satyajit Ray Fim and Television Institute (SRFTI) in Kolkata offers students admission in various specialisations under the film and television wings. Admission Process: Admission into SRFTI is as such that candidates need to apply online and will have to appear for a Joint Entrance Test (JET). The JET is conducted by the FTII and SRFTI together in order to offer students admission.
