PR or Public Relations on the other hand concentrates more on managing the image of the product or company or even a person. PR firms help companies, non-profits and government manage everything from speeches to the look of brochures to communication with the press during major crises. One part of PR is also about managing the company's image in house with in the employees. This is called internal communication.
Advertising is basically brand-building through effective communication. It's a way to influence the decision making of people about a product or company or brand name.

Eligibility:
The students must qualify the following criteria:
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline preferably with social sciences, liberal arts and humanities is required for PG courses
- For diploma and graduation programme, 10+2 is required
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written
- Good analytical skills
- Must be a team player and should be able to withstand criticism
Job prospect and Remuneration:
With increasing budget and at this time of consumerism more and more companies are investing into PR and advertising. And hence the demand for such professionals is growing by the day. Even political parties are realising the need for image management and correct PR.
Career opportunities in advertising include openings in private advertising agencies; advertising department in private or public sector companies; in advertising sections of newspapers, journals, magazines; commercial section of radio or television; market research organisations etc. In PR the starting salary is something between Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000 a month and can go up to Rs. 25,000. In advertising the starting salary is somewhere around Rs 7,000 for production mangers to Rs 8,000 for copy writers up to Rs 35,000 for General Managers.
