Theatre Induction Program for budding artists
It is tough to build a robust career in any specialised art without having a sound grasp of its fundamentals. Theatre is a way to understand ourselves better, as well as others and our relationship with them. Since ages, it has been an important discipline. Beneficial to the young and the old, theatre teaches us to create our own language of peace and enterprise.
But how does one start in theatre? Putting your first step right can mean saving time, money and, above all, not giving it up soon after the brave initial effort. ‘Theatre Induction Program’ (TIP) is Actor Factor Theatre Company’s initiative to help people get started in theatre, and establish a strong knowledge-foothold. The 3-month-long weekend program aims to hone the talent of students in writing, acting or direction, to get the participants hands-on with the entire creative process involved, moving from idea to script to performance.
TIP has been designed in two formats to suit the specific needs of participants: TIP 16 Plus and TIP Junior
TIP 16 Plus (Weekend Training in ‘Acting & Stagecraft’ – for 16 years and above): It is for professionals and students who wish to start theatre work but can find time only on weekends. Spread over 3 months (11 weekends / 22 sessions). They will introduce you to the theory and practice of theatre-acting and stagecraft. They will be trained by Aditee Biswas, guest faculty, National School Of Drama.
TIP Junior (Weekend Training in ‘Acting & Life Skills’ – for 8 to 15 years): It is best for all children who must ideally be introduced to theatre at an early stage of their lives, and their creative energies be harnessed for productive results. Spread over 3 months (10 weekends/20 sessions), it will introduce essential life skills through the medium of theatre and acting methods applied worldwide. They will be trained by Vaishali Chakravarty, Associate of Trinity College London (Speech & Drama), Member of Actor Factor Theatre Company.
