Pursuing an MBA course is a life-time venture – both in terms of receiving a higher education degree and financial investment. As a result, students want to pursue the best management degree at affordable tuition fees.

A full-time MBA programme can be offered either in residential mode or non-residential mode. Students may have the option of choosing between residential and non-residential programmes.

Often, students try to cut down expenses by opting out of residential campuses and choosing to pursue the MBA degree near home. Also, migrating from one state to another or one city to a completely different location is not a comfortable idea for all.

However, many experts, academicians and former MBA students believe that the best management education is received in a residential campus.

1. MBA experience

MBA is not just a two-year course. It is two-year lifetime experience. Management education goes beyond the classes held in campus. It involves developing network, solving cases, group discussions, debates, workshops, activities and so much more. To experience an MBA programme in its entirety, candidates need to spend time with batchmates and professors outside the classes. A residential campus is perfect for the wholesome MBA experience. Candidates can spend more time interacting with each other and solve cases in a hostel-environment. It also encourages community living.

 

2. Diversity

Various business schools believe in having a diverse class both in terms of gender diversity and academic diversity. A diverse class brings forth innovative ideas and good work place ethics along with various other positive aspects. Interacting with the diverse class cannot be justified in the few hours of classroom. For this, candidates need to spend time out of class and know each other.

“Staying in a residential campus can save a lot of travel time,” says Sanjay Salunkhe, director of iFEEL institute, Lonavala. “These two years are very crucial for career progression. When one stays with the family, there are chances of distraction from studies. Moreover, lectures can be scheduled as per convenience of students on campus,” he adds.
