CAT 2013 toppers: Eight male engineers on top of the ladder

Anticipation related to CAT 2013 has finally been laid to rest on January 14, 2014 at 9 am with the official website for CAT results 2013 revealing that this year, there are eight toppers of this exam and what’s more all of them are engineers.  

Professor Kapoor of IIM Indore spoke exclusively to Shiksha.com at 8 am on January 14 and shared, “There are eight toppers this year who have managed to score 100 percentile. Also, ten people have scored in 99.99 percentile bracket including a girl. However, I cannot divulge more information right now”.

As per details trickling in, out of the eight CAT 2013 toppers, six have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and the other two have a master’s degree in the same. It has also been revealed that out of these toppers, three have an experience of working (between two to four years) in the information technology, banking and automobile industry.

This year, maximum toppers for CAT are from Andra Pradesh, wherein, four candidates - one each from Vijayawada, Secunderabad, Samalkot and Hyderabad have acquired 100 percentile. Out of the remaining, one is from Delhi while the remaining three are from Mumbai.  Also, there are 10 students who have scored a 99.99 percentile with one female candidate being in this list.

This year, CAT which is the key to unlock a bright future with the best B-schools in the country saw 1.94 lakh candidates register for it, however, only 1.73 lakh finally sat for the exam. The exam was held over a 20-day window from October 16 to November 11, 2013.
