CAT 2014: Eligibility criteria for the exam

CAT 2014 is all set to be conducted on November 16 and November 22, 2014, this year. The registration process for the same is on and will continue till September 30, 2014.

To apply for the test candidates must fulfil the eligibility criteria. Any candidate who holds a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA from any University recognised as a deemed University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. The minimum marks for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD)/Differently Able (DA) category is 45%.

For those candidates who are awarded with grades/CGPA instead of marks from their universities, their Grades/CGPA will be converted to marks based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where candidates have obtained the degree.

Final year students or those candidates who have appeared for their final year’s exams and are waiting for the results can also apply for the test. It is mandatory for those candidates to submit their final year result before June 30, 2015.

List of Equivalent Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2/Post B.Sc./Post Diploma ) or B.E/B.Tech equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institution of Engineers -India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers India).
  • Any Qualification recognized by Association of Indian Universities New Delhi, which is equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree awarded by UGC recognised University/Institutions.
  • Cases not covered above equivalency certificate to be produced from Association of Indian Universities New Delhi.
