CAT 2015 Eligibility Criteria
CAT 2015 eligibility criteria will be announced in the CAT 2015 notification on Sunday, June 26, 2015. However, going by the eligibility criteria of CAT exam over the past few years, not many changes are expected.
The primarily eligibility remains same: Candidates need to be graduates with at least 50% aggregate marks.
Here’s a detailed look of the expected CAT 2015 eligibility criteria:
- Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC, ST and PWD/DA category).
- Percentage obtained in bachelor’s degree will be calculated on the basis of practice followed by the concerned university/institution. In case of grades/CGPA, the conversion would be based on the process defined by the concerned university/ institution.
- In absence of any percentage conversion scheme, candidate’s CGPA will be divided by maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.
- Final year students (bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification) are also eligible to apply for CAT 2015.
- There is no age limit for CAT 2015 examination.
Previously, CAT authorities have issued a list of equivalent qualifications for CAT 2015 Eligibility. These are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2/Post B.Sc./Post Diploma ) or BE/BTech equivalent examinations.
- Any qualification recognised by Association of Indian Universities New Delhi, which is equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree awarded by UGC recognised University/Institutions.
- Cases not covered above equivalency certificate to be produced from Association of Indian Universities New Delhi.
Reservations under CAT 2015 Eligibility Criteria
According to Government of India requirements, 15% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, 27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the “non - creamy” layer (NC - OBC).
