Candidates will be allotted 60 minutes to answer questions in each section. Moreover, one cannot switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section.
The tutorial / sample paper to understand the format of the examination will be available on the CAT website from October 15, 2015.
Other important features of CAT 2015 are:
- CAT 2015 will be conducted in two sessions on Sunday, November 29, 2015.
- The exam will be conducted in 136 Cities comprising 650 Test Sites.
- Candidates will have the option to select four Test Cities in order of preference. This has been introduced to reduce the initial rush of registration to block slots.
- The release states, "We will try our best to assign candidates their first preferred city. In case it is not possible, they will be assigned a city following their given order of preference. However, candidates will not be able to select the session because it will be assigned randomly."
- Like last year, CAT 2015 registration will be conducted only in online mode (Credit Card, Debit Card, and Net Banking).
- Admit Cards will be available for download from October 15 - till the date of examination.
- Candidates will be allotted exactly 60 minutes for answering questions in each section and they cannot switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section.
“Every year we review CAT and make certain changes- both operational and content. For CAT 2015, at an operational level, we are planning to have it on a single-day in two-sessions rather than on two-days in four sessions like last year. This will help in enhancing operational efficiency and quality of the test content,” said Professor Bandyopadhyay to Shiksha.com.
He further mentioned that authorities will try to accommodate female candidates in nearby-by centres.
But the most important announcement is that Quant will no more dominate the percentile ranks. This will change the current dynamics and open up the playing field for non-engineering students
