CAT 2015 results have been declared! Candidates can check their results here!

Cracking CAT 2015 is just the first step towards securing an MBA. Candidates have to go through a rigorous selection process, aimed to select the crème de la crème from a diverse background.

The selection process this year could probably be a bit different from the previous years. Reason being, the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are quite intent (as it seems) on selecting a diverse batch – both in terms of academic diversity and gender diversity.

CAT 2015, as we all know, has also introduced a series of changes, keeping in mind the issues of diversity in an MBA classroom.

The various weightage criterion for this year’s (2016-18) admission has quite a few interesting elements that can either make or break your chances. Below, Shiksha.com has a compiled the entire shortlisting criteria of all the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for the academic session 2016-16.

(Please Note: The B-Schools have been listed in no particular order or preference. Also, the list will be updated as and when institutes announce their admission criteria)

IIM Ahmedabad

Quite a few changes have been incorporated in this year’s admission procedure, owning to the institute’s endeavour to select a diverse batch.

Shortlisting will be conducted at two stages:

Stage I

Preliminary Screening: Candidates need to fulfil the minimum cut-offs CAT-2015 to be eligible for subsequent stages.

Thereafter, candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of AR scores.

Application Rating Score (AR): A+B+C

Where A stands for rating Scores for 10th Standard exam, B is the rating Scores for 12th standard and C is Rating Scores for Bachelor’s degree.

Normalized AR score of an applicant is equal to his/her AR scores divided by average of the top 50 AR scores from the applicants’ pool.

What is Rating Score? Based on the marks scored (in Class 10, 12 and bachelor’s degree) and the stream /field of studies, a certain Rating score is given.

Stage 2

In the next stage, candidates will be shortlisting for Academic Writing Test (AWT) & Personal Interview (PI). This will be conducted in further two steps:

First, the Top 100 candidates or top 1% of the number of applicants to IIM Ahmedabad, whichever is less, will be shortlisted for AWT & PI, on the basis of the Composite Score (CS), subject to fulfilling of certain criterion.

CS (Composite Score) = 0.3 (Normalized AR score) + 0.7 (Normalized overall score in CAT-2015)

Second: From the remaining pool of candidates, an additional number of applicants will be shortlisted for AWT & PI. Similar shortlisting process (CS score) be used, subject to fulfilling of certain criterion.

The final composite score will be derived:

FCS = 0.40 (Normalized PI Score) + 0.10 (Normalized AWT Score) + 0.5 (CS)
