CAT 2016 syllabus & pattern
The official notifications of CAT 2016 will be released by last week of July. This year, IIM Bangalore is likely to conduct CAT exam. Though the official CAT 2016 syllabus has not been announced by the conducting IIM yet, candidates can get an idea of the same taking into view CAT syllabus of previous years’.

To score well in the exam, it is extremely important for CAT aspirants to have a fair idea about the exam syllabus & pattern. The questions paper will consist of 100 questions spread across 4 sections. The duration of the exam will be 180 minutes. 3 marks will be awarded to every correct answer, and negative marking of 1 mark will done for every incorrect answer. Questions that are not attempted shall remain unmarked.
Know when to expect CAT 2016 notification
The exam paper will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Non-MCQs. A basic on-screen calculator will be provided to the test-takers.

- Verbal and Reading Comprehension
Quantitative Ability: This section will examine a candidate’s concepts in maths and quant. Candidates can expect questions around Algebra, Arithmetic, Trigonometry and Geometry.
Data Interpretation: Candidates’ need to solve questions related to organised and unorganised data. Questions related to tables, charts and graphs can be expected.
Logical Reasoning: This section of the exam paper carries questions based on puzzles, coding-decoding, blood relations etc.
Verbal and Reading Comprehension: This section of the exam paper evaluates a candidate’s vocabulary and grammar.
