Proper time management with complete focus and determination is the key to success to crack the exam.

The Management Aptitude Test (MAT) exam is conducted four times a year. This year, the exam of MAT has been postponed due to the pandemic coronavirus. The new dates of the exam will be out soon. Therefore, the students should focus on utilising this extra time in hand completely in a productive way and stay away from distractions.

The MAT exam is easier than other exams like CAT, XAT, CMAT, etc.  In this article, we will discuss the basic tips to prepare for the MAT exam.

Exam Pattern of MAT

The pattern of the MAT exam is given below

  • The time duration of the exam is two and a half hours
  • The total number of questions is 200, which are objective type questions
  • The difficulty level of this exam is easy to moderate
  • The paper will be divided into five sections and each section contains 40 questions
  • The sections are as follows:
    1. Language Comprehension
    2. Mathematical Skills
    3. Data Analysis and Sufficiency
    4. Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
    5. Indian and Global Environment

Exam preparation tips:

  • Complete your syllabus: The first thing that the students should keep in mind is to understand and complete the syllabus on time. This would help in revising the syllabus thoroughly to crack the exam.
  • Attempt mock test or test series: After completing the syllabus or course, the students could join test series and mock test papers, which are easily available on many websites. Moreover, by joining these mock test series one could assess the preparation and the weak areas and plan accordingly.
  • Identify the mistakes and learn from it: After completing the mock tests, check the result, identify the mistake and errors, and work on these mistakes. This would help in ensuring that the mistakes are not repeated which in turn would boost the confidence level.
  • Manage your time: The biggest mistake that all the students often make is not taking the exam seriously and in the end, they would not even attempt all the questions. This results in low scores in the exam. While giving mock tests, the students could set a reminder on their mobile phone, which is less than the time shown on the screen. This would help in managing time and enhancing speed in the exam.
  • Release the stress: This is the worst thing, which happened with all the students is that they take stress before their exam. This lowers their confidence in the exam. Hence, students should avoid stress by taking part in various recreational activities.
  • Take proper rest: When the students start the preparation, they often do not take proper rest due to which they fall ill before the exam. Therefore, every student should take proper rest and study or a minimum of six hours in a day.
  • Take proper diet: Eat healthy and stay fit is the mantra to stay focussed in the exam, therefore, the students should eat nutritious food during the preparation.
