Highest paying MBA specialisation in 2013: Sales & Marketing still a hot favourite
Which specialisation receives the highest salary packages? What are the top recruiters hiring in that specific specialisation?
These questions weigh heavily on an MBA candidate’s mind while seeking admission in a B-school.
To find out the top paying specialisations for 2013-14, Shiksha.com conducted a study based on Naukri.com data. According to our findings, MBA or PGDM in the following subjects are the highest paying specialisations in the present Indian economy (the list is not rank-based).
- MBA in Finance
- MBA in Marketing
- MBA in Human Resources
- MBA in Operations
- MBA in Advertising and Mass Communication
In this article, we’ll explore the details of MBA in Sales & Marketing.
The data and findings are based on the latest resumes and resumes that have been updated in the past one year (2013). The average work-experience in this study is two to five years. Naukri.com, India’s leading job portal, has a database of almost 30 million registered job seekers.
The study put forwards three details:

- Average CTC (cost-to-company) received by the alumni in each college
- Top recruiters hiring MBA in Marketing graduates
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore emerged as the top institute. This was closely followed by Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS). The highest average package received after two to five years of work experience is Rs 15.5 lakhs per annum.
The list of top firms hiring Marketing graduates is based on maximum number of recruitments, as reported by Naukri users. Airtel (Bharti Telecom) take the top position with 1020 recruitments, followed by HDFC Bank with 884 recruitments and Reliance Communications with 829 recruitments.
