Top 20 Management Institutes

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) climbed seven ranks to 19th position in the latest Financial Times Global Masters in Management 2016 ranking. Last year it was ranked 25th.

The prestigious institute’s two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) has been ranked 19th owning to the efforts it took towards bringing gender-diversity in classrooms.

IIMB is the only management school in India to lead in school diversity with 28 per cent women in the two-year programme, 21 per cent women faculty and 25 per cent of women on the school advisory board.

After making a debut in the Financial Time Global Masters in Management Rankings in 2015 and being ranked 26, IIMB’s two-year PGP has shown improvement in several parameters of the 2016 rankings.

Commenting on the ranking, Prof Raghavan Srinivasan, Director Incharge, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore said “IIMB’s moving up seven spots to gain a position among the Top 20 in the Financial Times Global Masters in Management 2016 Rankings reiterates our efforts towards achieving global excellence. Also it’s a proud moment at IIMB, to top the School Diversity criteria. We focus on building leaders in a diverse ecosystem, as it helps to draw upon the widest possible range of views and experiences.”

Meanwhile, according to a report by Business Standard, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIMC), dropped seven positions to be ranked 23rd this year compared with 16th spot last year. Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) too, dropped one rank from 15th position last year to 16th position this year.

The 12th annual FT Global Masters in Management 2016 ranking features a record 93 Masters in Management programmes, up from 70 in 2014. The FT Global Masters in Management 2016 ranking is based on a relative assessment of the world’s top pre-experience degrees in general management, calculated according to data provided by schools and alumni. The ranking is based on data collected from two surveys: one of the participating business schools and the other of alumni who graduated three years ago - the class of 2013.

The Top 20 schools, ranked by FT this year, include University of St Gallen, HEC Paris, London Business School, Esade Business School, among others.
