IIM Lucknow has decided to remove the Written Aptitude Test (WAT) from the admission criteria of 2020-2022 PGP batch following the announcement of extension of nationwide lockdown due to coronavirus pandemic.

With the extension in the coronavirus lockdown period nationwide, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow has decided to bring some changes in its admission process for the 2020-2022 PGP batch. After postponing the Written Aptitude Test (WAT) twice earlier, the institute has decided to remove it as an admission criteria for this academic session.

Before the nationwide lockdown, over 70 per cent of candidates had appeared in the WAT.

In the revised admission policy released recently, the institute said, "Owing to gathering restrictions imposed by the Government of India to contain the spread of Covid-19, IIM Lucknow has decided to exclude the Writing Ability Test (WAT, 10 marks) from the evaluation components for admission to PGP/ PGP-ABM/ PGP-SM. This change in the evaluation compeonents is applicable for this year only (i.e., Batch 2020-22)."

Responding on the same, IIM Lucknow, Dean faculty stated that, "Since it is impossible to conduct WAT online, it has been decided to do away with WAT for the admission to the batch 2020-22."

However, the weightage that is given to other parameters will remain the same. The remaining candidates will have to just appear for virtual personal interview, the dates of which will be intimated to the candidates.

"The change in admission policy will only be implemented for the current academic session, due to the current health emergency situation in the country," he said.
