IIM Tiruchirappalli announces selection criteria for PGP 2016-18
The Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM - Trichy) has announced the shortlisting criteria for admissions to Post Graduate Programme (PGP) for the year 2016-18.
All admission to the programme will on the basis of scores attained in CAT 2015 exam. Besides this, various other factors form a part of the selection criteria such as performance in Personal Interview (PI) and Written Analysis Test (WAT), relevant work experience and past academic record.
The admission to the institute will take place in two stages – shortlisting for the PI & WAT and post PI & WAT. Given below, is a detailed criteria used to shortlist for Personal Interview and Written Analysis Test (PI & WAT):
Stage 1. Criteria for shortlisting for PI & WAT
CAT 2015 percentile will be used by IIM Trichy to shortlist candidates for PI & WAT. Below mentioned is the minimum cut-off percentile in CAT expected from the students.
The official website informs “Please note that achieving the cut-off percentile in CAT is a necessary but not sufficient condition for being shortlisted.”

The cut-offs mentioned above are indicative. The actual percentiles for the batch 2016-18 may vary from the ones mentioned above. The number of students to be called for PI & WAT will be decided by the institute for each category.
Stage 2. Criteria for selection of candidates post Personal Interview (PI) and Written Analysis Test (WAT):
After the completion of PI & WAT rounds, candidates will further be analysed on the basis of other parameters to form the composite score. On the basis of composite scores, the final merit list of the selected students will be formed for admissions to the programme.

4. Performance at Undergraduate level
This performance is calculated by multiplying the percentage marks scored by the weightage applicable to the discipline as mentioned below.
10% of the score so obtained will be considered in the overall evaluation. [UG performance score = (per cent score at UG * discipline weightage)* 0.10]
Differential weightages, as mentioned below, will be applied to different streams to account for the degree of difficulty in attaining marks in different disciplines (for example, scoring in Arts disciplines is more difficult than in Engineering) as well as to promote diversity in the batch formed:
a. Engineering / Technology: 0.6 b. Science: 0.8 c. Arts / Medicine (including Pharmacy): 0.9 d. Commerce / Economics / Management: 1.0 |
