Overall, Quant was easy, data interpretation calculative, Verbal and AR moderate. The paper was time consuming in nature, with quite a few speed breakers.

However, one should not be quick to infer that Day 2 of CAT 2014 will have exact same pattern as Day 1. “It would be stupid to predict or assume that the other slots will be the same. However, if this is how CAT continues to stay, it will be a good one for the well prepared. Stick to the basics, be aggressive, and get your selection right with independent questions,” Parasharan Chari,  Endeavour Careers.

Other Key Learnings

1. Shiksha.com reporters saw few students being turned away for bringing last year’s ID card or just getting a photocopy of the original ID proof. Please go through our article, Things to remember for CAT 2014 exam day, and follow it strictly.

2. Please reach the test centre on or before the reporting time. The entry gates close 45 minutes before the exam is schedule to commence. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the centre after that.

3. Don’t waste your stamina. First day of CAT 2014 turned out be a lengthy affair. Candidates need to devote 290 minutes, i.e., almost 5 hours to CAT exam.

3. Spend some time on the testing interface. Attempt the mock tests again and familiarise yourself with the testing console.
