MAH CET 2015 exam was held on March 14 and 15 across the state of Maharashtra. More than 57,000 candidates took the exam in four slots spread over two days.

The difficultly level of paper in all the three sections was quite easy. However, various candidates complained of glitches in the exam – both technical and non-technical in nature. User-interface was not up to the mark. Reports of aspirants discussed questions among themselves during the paper have come from various counters.

Glitches in MAH CET 2015

According to several reports received by Shiksha.com, aspirants faced various glitches in the exam in numerous centres.

“It was a poorly conducted exam,” says test taker Aniruddha Deshpande. “The invigilator asked me to get my own rough sheet. Computer monitors were uncovered and hardly 10 cms apart. One could easily peek into other screens. For some questions, I could only see half part of the alphabets and characters (upper half) on the screen. User interface was bad, with navigation feature on the testing console quite difficult,” he says. Deshpande is an IT professional, who appeared for the first slot of MHCET at IES, Bandra East centre.

“For the questions, where alphabets were not properly visible, invigilators announced that free marks will be assigned. However, in fourth slot (MAH CET 2015 day 2), my friends were told no marks will be given. One had to click on the link provided at the top of the interface, scroll down and view the questions. I am really confused now,” adds Deshpande.

Dina Mardzi (name changed on request), who appeared for the paper in Thakur Polytechnical centre at Kandivali East, Mumbai, did not face any glitches in the testing console. Her issues were different. “Invigilators informed us that the previous batch finished all the rough sheets. So we could use any paper available, including the back side of the Hall Ticket. Some aspirants took out their notebooks which had notes and formulas and started using it as rough sheets. There was no seating arrangement. People just sat randomly and were discussing the questions among themselves and copying answers.”

Dhaval Somaiya, final year student of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, is equally appalled with the test experience. “There was no seating arrangement. Friends were sitting together, discussing questions among themselves. There was mass copying all around.  The centres did not even check our ID proofs. Moreover, there was a system lag – questions took about 20 to 30 seconds to load,” says Somaiya.

And that’s not all. “About six questions had at least two same answer options (out of four options). In some questions, no answering options were given. Vice versa, there were four answering options but the question wasn’t displayed! The invigilators in the rooms announced marks ‘might’ be provided for it,” said Somiya.

Shiksha.com also found out that the level of questions were extremely easy… almost too easy to be true. Check out the following questions:

  • Which one of the following is not a fruit: Apple, orange, banana (or grape) and potato.
  • Pick the odd-one out of the following: Arjun, Nakul, Sahdev and Suyodhan.
  • Value of X and Y are given. How much is (x+y)^2?

Aspirants also reported that in visual reasoning, answer option provided were completely unrelated.

There were some tough questions – around 15-18 difficult questions in overall four slots.

Apart from the above, Shiksha.com came to know that MAH CET 2015 tests did not commence on time in the some centres, as there were log-in issues for quite a few students.

List of issues in MAH CET 2015

Pratik Gour, National Product Manager of MBA at IMS India, listed out a few issues for us:

  1. At least seven to eight questions were either incorrect or had incorrect answer options.
  2. In five to five to six questions were not visible on screen, particularly the images.
  3. There were two questions on mythology and not English.
  4. Students in the second slot of MAH CET 2015 were kept waiting. Test slotted for 2 pm, finally commenced at 4.30pm.
  5. The Test Submit button did not function properly. Hence some students might be marked absent in the test, despite attending it.
  6. The Test interface was confusing and very pedestrian in comparison to last year’s test.

Apart from the above, here’s a list of other issues we came across:

  1. Rough sheets not provided in centres.
  2. Mass copying was prevalent in the exam. Also, candidates were discussing answers during the exam.
  3. Candidates were seated randomly in the exam centre.
  4. Computer monitors were uncovered and very close to each, giving ample opportunities to test takers to look into other screens.
  5. In slot one, candidates were told marks will be given to questions not visible properly on screen. However in slot four, candidates were told no marks will be provided.
  6. Level of questions in the test was very easy – not up to the standard of MAH CET MBA exam.
  7. Testing software often hanged. There was also a general time lag of 20 to 30 seconds to load a question.
  8. In some centres, no ID proofs were checked.

MAH CET 2015 test takers are demanding a retest of the exam. The social media is abuzz with problems faced in MAH CET 2015. Some students are raising online petition against the exam experience.
