MAT May 2015 analysis: 200 questions in 150 minutes
MAT May 2015 analysis: Nothing much has changed in MAT May 2015 exam pattern. The written MAT exam, held on Sunday, May 3, was for 150 minutes. As expected, there were five sections in the exam:

For each right answer, one mark is awarded, while for wrong answer one-fourth (0.25) marks is deducted. Each question had four multiple choice options.
MAT Exam Analysis
Let us take a look at each of the sections individually:
Language Comprehension
Out of 40, 20 questions were devoted to Verbal Ability and Reasoning. The remaining 20 were Reading Comprehension questions. There were five passages, about 500-600 words long, with four questions each. Some of the topics from where questions were asked included:
- Fill-in-the-blanks
- Para-jumbles
- Odd-one-out
- Synonym / antonym
- Grammatically correct
- Jumbled words
Intelligence and Critical Reasoning
This section consisted of questions from Logical and Verbal Reasoning. About 30 questions were on logical reasoning and remaining on VR. The topics included:
- Analogies
- Cause and effect
- Statement-conclusion
- Assertion and reason
- Arrangements (matrix arrangement, linear arrangement and circular arrangement)
- Family tree
- Calendars
- Distribution Qs
- Blood Relations
- Sequences
- Verbal Analogies
Mathematical Skills
This section had questions from the following topics:
- Arithmetic
- Mixtures and Alligation
- Time-Speed-Distance
- Time and Work
- Ratio & Proportion
- Profit & Loss
- Pipes and Cisterns
- Simple & Compound Interest
- Percentages
- Geometry, trigonometry, mensuration
- Averages and Probability
- Permutation and combination
- Equations
- Heights and distance
Data Analysis and Sufficiency
This section had questions from Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency and Data Comparison. There were about 30 questions on DI. The main topics in this section were:
- Quantitative Comparison
- Line Graphs
- Bar Charts
- Pie Charts
- Tables
- Caselets
Indian and Global Environment
The questions were from current affairs and general knowledge. In general knowledge, most questions were based on static GK.
