Status of State Level MBA Entrance Exams

Every year. MBA aspirants across the country appear for not only national level MBA entrance tests, but in the state-level tests as well. The state-level MBA entrance exams have their own advantages. Taking these exams not only expand the horizon of MBA admission, but also enable them to take admission in their home states, and even get the advantage of domicile reservation. Last year, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the admission process across institutes and the state level MBA entrance exams were delayed. However, in the academic year 2021-23, the situation is much more stable, hence the schedule of the top state-level MBA entrance exams have regained normalcy. 

While some of the exams are conducted but the counselling process is pending, some of the exam conducting bodies are yet to announce the date of the exams. The table below brings the list of top state-level MBA entrance exams of India and the present status. This would help the MBA aspirants plan for their admission accordingly.

Notification likely to be released in the fourth week of April

Telangana State Integrated Common Entrance Test (TSICET)

Registration process started on April 7. Last date of registration without late fee is June 15

Karnataka Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET)

Notification likely to be released in June

Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT)

Registration process likely to begin from the fourth week of May

Kerala Management Admission Test (KMAT)

Answer keys released on April 11

Himachal Pradesh University Management Aptitude Test (HPU MAT)

Notification likely to be released in the second week of May

Odisha Joint Entrance Exam (OJEE) for MBA

Registration process began on April 14. Last date to register is May 15

What Next

Preparation is Key: Now that the aspirants know the status of the state-level MBA entrance exams they have appeared in or are planning to appear for, they have to plan accordingly. For the exams which are scheduled to be held within the next few months, they must not compromise on the preparation process. Since the exam pattern of the above-mentioned exams is similar, a common strategy is likely to suffice.

Stay Updated: For the exams whose exam or counselling schedules are to be announced, candidates should regularly check the official websites for important updates. They should keep taking adequate preparation to avoid the last-minute hassle of unpreparedness.

Weigh Other Options: In case the aspirants had appeared for other national level MBA entrance exams and the results are announced, they may consider exploring admission through a national level test or through non-exam modes.

Stay Positive: Last but not the least, candidates must not lose hope or focus. Even though the world is going through a difficult phase, one must ensure his/her safety and good health. Even if the MBA admission schedules get delayed, there are a plethora of opportunities which await for the aspirants can look for if their initial plan does not work out.

AICTE Notification Regarding Admission 2020

According to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), in the current scenario, the PGDM / MBA institutions are allowed to admit the students on the basis of marks obtained in qualifying examination by preparing a merit list in a transparent manner. However, first preference will be given to those candidates who have appeared in any of the entrance tests. 

AICTE also stated, "If vacant seats are still available, candidates shall be selected based on the merit in the qualifying UG exams. The States may also use this relaxation while allotting seats through counselling."
