I decided very early in my life that I wanted to do MBA because I had a keen interest in Business and Management. So accordingly, I opted for Commerce after Class X. I wanted to get my concepts and foundation strong from the very beginning so I focused on domain knowledge which helped me in the initial semesters of my PGDM course.

Since I have done B.Com, the course provides me a profound knowledge of the subjects from theoretical perspective and while doing MBA I got the opportunity to practically apply all those concepts in the real world scenario.

The factors which influenced my decision for opting IMI, Bhubaneswar was the brand name, its rich legacy and the infrastructure. The placement record of the college is also pretty good with recruiters offering various jobs across all the domains.

In the current scenario, the management professionals are the need of the hour, from small to large corporates, all the management professional work across all the domains to run the business smoothly. Hence, getting a degree from a reputed institute definitely gives an edge over others.

IMI Bhubaneswar accepts the scores of CAT, XAT & CMAT in its admission process. I applied to this college through my CMAT scores. I did my preparation for the entrance exam for a year. I joined TIME coaching for the same, as their test papers, mock tests are highly recommended and are in line with the actual question papers of the various management entrance exams. For Quants & DILR, I was following the study materials provided by the coaching institute and for the verbal section I referred to other study materials. I used to read newspaper particularly the editorial section that really helped me in the reading comprehension section. I also read novels, both fictional and non-fictional which helped me to increase my reading speed. I started giving mock tests from the beginning as it helped me to continuously monitor my performance & progress. These tests helped me to identify my weak areas and work more on them. This helped me to continuously improve with each test.

I targeted the colleges as per the percentile I scored & then narrowed it down to IMI Bhubaneswar, XISS Ranchi & XIME. Out of these, I opted for IMI Bhubaneswar, keeping students intake of various colleges in view.

I used to be a very reserved kind of person, but this college provided many opportunities to explore my interests and pursue them. I also got the opportunity to interact with some of the best brains from across the country. I made friends from diverse backgrounds and cultures. This helped me to broaden my horizon of knowledge and view things from various perspectives.

In college we have different clubs & committees to keep us engage in various activities & learn teamwork by sharing knowledge with each other. In the college, we have domain-specific clubs like Fintellects for Finance, Colosseum for Marketing, Cynosure for Operations, Insignia for Human Resource, Prayas Club for CSR activities and the Literary Club. Apart from these clubs, we have Cultural, Sports, Branding and Media & PR Committee. Since it is a student-driven campus like most of the MBA colleges, students are responsible for organizing the annual management fest, cultural fest & the sports fest of the college. The students also play an active role in the management of conferences & workshops in the institute. All these activities & events allow the students to gain exposure and understand the practical functioning of the corporate world.
