Mystory@Aditya Pal: How I chose my course and college

Mystory@Aditya Pal

I’ve always believed that an individual’s growth is known by his/her past achievements and academics.

In 2011, I stepped in the actual academic arena when I cleared Class 10 with 82%. This achievement boosted my confidence and I started participating in extra-curricular activities like, International and National Taekwondo championships and inter college events. But soon my performance in academics dipped and I scored only 68% in Class 12. With just about average score, I was confused what to do?

My mentors advised me to pursue Graduation as well as CA. So I joined BCom course at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University and at the same time, moved to Delhi for my CA preparation. After clearing my CPT and IPCC 1st group I returned to my hometown and studied 2D animation from Cavalier Animation. In this course, I learnt about many software programs like Photoshop, Coral Draw, Maya, etc. I also trained students in Taekwondo alongside my studies. By this time, I had made a decision regarding my career. Thus I prepared for CAT and MAT exams. I cleared them and got admission in ISB&M, Pune.

How I cracked college admission

After clearing the exams I was really puzzled about which college to study at. My mentor solved my problem by suggesting the name of ISB&M. I researched about a few more colleges like ITM Mumbai, ISBR, etc, but eventually decided to join ISB&M.

When I was preparing for my entrance exam in New Delhi, I knew that I really need to work hard to cope with the competition to be successful. I was satisfied to have gotten admission in a B-school through MAT, but I also knew that there’s more to come.

All about my college

I am trying to make each and every day of mine at ISB&M more fruitful.

ISB&M has brought a sense of understanding of the corporate world and its way of functioning. I have done internship at TCS which further boosted my confidence.

I am trying to make each and every day of mine at ISB&M more fruitful.

‘After graduation, life changes.’ Yes it does happen. When I stepped in to International School of Business & Media number of questions were clicking in my mind. What I will do? How I will cope up? Weather the faculty will corporate or not? How will be the students like? How will I adjust? And many more. My initial friend was my hostel room. Room No. 115. Luckily, my room mates were really good people who made my life easy at ISB&M. The ISB&M campus is so beautiful that anyone will fall in love with it. I too love it.

ISB&M is the hub of diverse cultures and numerous events held here make an individual more flexible and confident. I took Marketing and Media & Communication as my streams for PGDM. The classes are awesome and I really enjoy them. As I have organized Taekwondo championship, I know the basics of marketing. And since I had studied animation earlier, I enjoyed graphics classes, too.

Initial days went well but gradually the pressure of assignments, projects and events increased. But I enjoy it all.

Later, I joined the Digital Marketing Cell. It looks after the promotion and branding of the college. I enjoyed working on that front. I also took part in a live project called ‘Market Mania’ in which I won the runner’s up prize. In addition to it I also went for TEDx that enhanced my knowledge. I looked after the promotion part of events like Forza, Crescendo and Runbhumi. At ISB&M, I also got the opportunities to attend guest talks, pre placements talks and professional meetings which added to my knowledge of corporate.

My internship in TATA Consultancy Service which gave me the exposure of corporate meetings.

“Let’s enjoy the beginning and make a life full of motivation, knowledge and attitude.” This is what ISB&M means for me.

“Rain or Storm, We should Perform.” Living by my college moto I wish to make a successful career for myself.
