Mystory@Girish Wahalekar: How I selected my course and made my career
After my HSC I took up a BSc course in Hospitality and Hotel Administration as I always wanted to start my own venture. I planned for MBA after one and a half years of job experience. As I wanted to be an entrepreneur I took HR as my specialisation.
I worked for four years in corporate world understanding the know-how of entrepreneurship and started Srinivas Hostels providing accommodation and meal facilities to boy students.
Then, as I had passion for Photography, I did a certificate course in the same from National Institute of Photography, Mumbai while doing my job at Nashik. Eventually, I created my own freelance team catering to the photography and videography needs of clients.
Yes, I am really satisfied of what I am doing today as I am working on my passion as well as technical knowledge.
MBA made me more skilled in entrepreneurship. One of my mistakes were not scoring too well to get a top ten MBA college which I overcame by working with a startup organization and my on-the-job experience. I worked in service industry and got my training in manufacturing industry so got well versed with both the traits.
I believe you need to select the career you love but make sure you work hard and also create a financial backup for yourself so that you can sustain your dreams financially as well. Believe in yourself and create your own launchpad to launch yourself.
